Eric Andersen, President, Aon plc

Eric Andersen serves as President of Aon plc, a leading global professional services firm providing a broad range of risk, retirement and health solutions.
He also plays a key role as a member of Aon’s Global Executive Committee, which guides the operations of the firm, and he also leads Aon’s Operating Committee.

Eric most recently served as Co-President of Aon. Prior to that Eric was Chief Executive Officer of Aon Benfield, the world’s leading reinsurance intermediary and full-service capital advisor. Aon Benfield provides treaty and facultative brokerage service and advice, and provides investment banking, analytics, claims, and management consulting services and advice to insurance and reinsurance companies. In May 2018, Eric announced the start of a brand transition from Aon Benfield to Reinsurance Solutions.

Prior to this role, he served as Chief Executive Office of Aon Risk Solutions Americas, based in New York City. In this role, he was responsible for leading Aon’s largest geographic unit with 14,000 colleagues on teams in the United States, Canada, Bermuda and throughout Latin America.

Throughout his over 20-year career at Aon, Eric has served in a number of important leadership positions including Aon Risk Solutions U.S. retail field leader, Chief Executive Officer of Aon Global Americas’ global account segment, national co-Managing Director of Aon’s Financial Services Group, and Resident Managing Director of Aon in Southern California.
Eric first joined Aon in 1997 via the acquisition of Minet. Prior to that, Eric also worked in London for a period at Alexander Howden in London’s Devonshire Square.

Andersen earned a MBA in Finance from Fordham University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Colgate University.
Andersen sits on the board of trustees of Colgate University. He is actively involved with the Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance (FACI), as well as the Insurance Development Forum (IDF). He is a board member of Covenant House New Jersey, an organization that helps homeless, at-risk and runaway youth.

Lisa Butera, Managing Director & Head P&C Client Markets US, Swiss Re

Lisa Butera is a Managing Director at Swiss Re.  In her current role, she leads a team of underwriting and client management specialists who engage and service US-based, P&C multinational clients.  Prior to this role, Lisa was a Senior Client Manager acting in a capacity as chief sales leader for five client insurers.  In this role, she was responsible for growth and profitability of the global client relationship and for leading cross-functional teams to develop and deliver risk and capital management solutions to her clients.  Additionally, Lisa was Head of Strategy for the Large Client segment.

Prior to joining Swiss Re in August 2012, Lisa spent most of her 20-year insurance career at AIG in various underwriting and management capacities.  Prior to leaving AIG, she was Head of the Multinational Risk Practice for AIG North America and prior to that Head of Worldwide Commercial Management Liability within the international Financial Lines Division.  During her AIG career, Lisa held several positions of increasing responsibility.  

After leaving AIG for a short hiatus and then again returning after 2.5 years, Lisa was a broker at Aon within the Financial Services Group. 

William R. Berkley, Chairman, Berkley

William R. Berkley founded W. R. Berkley Corporation, a Fortune 500 property-casualty insurance holding company with assets of over $30 billion and annual revenues in excess of $9 billion, in 1967.  He has served continuously as Chairman of the Board and the company’s Chief Executive Officer until October 2015, when he became Executive Chairman.  In addition, he is Chairman of many of the company subsidiaries, including Berkley Dean & Company, an investment management company.

During his career, Mr. Berkley has founded a number of public and private companies, some of which he continues to control or serve as Chairman or Director.  In addition to these enterprises, he has held similar roles in several financial institutions, including a bank and a number of industrial companies.  He is former Chairman of the American Insurance Association, and is an Emeritus member of the Board of Directors of the National Parks Conservation Association.

Mr. Berkley is a graduate of New York University and the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.  He is Chair of the New York University Board of Trustees and has served in various capacities at NYU for over three decades, including Chairman of the NYU Stern School of Business Executive Board, and member of the Board of Trustees of the New York University Langone Medical Center, as well as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees at New York University.  In addition, he has served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Georgetown University, where he helped create the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs, which is devoted to fostering inter-religious dialogue with a goal of improving global cultural understanding.  He is also a former Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of the University of Connecticut. 

Mr. Berkley served as Chairman of Achievement First, a group of charter schools operating in the New York Metropolitan area, Connecticut and Rhode Island, until November 2015 and continues to serve as a director.  Achievement First schools serve over 15,000 inner-city children and have been rated among the outstanding charter schools in America.

Over the years, he has received many awards for his business, civic and philanthropic activities, including an honorary doctor of law degree from Mercy College.  In 1999, he was awarded the Medallion for Entrepreneurship by Beta Gamma Sigma, which honors outstanding individuals who combine innovative business achievements with service to humanity.  In April 2006, he received the Charles Waldo Haskins award, given annually by NYU’s Stern School of Business to a nationally prominent business and public service leader.  He was the 2011 recipient of the Valentine Mott Award, given by the NYU Langone Medical Center, in recognition of exceptional and long-standing support and leadership.  An avid collector of antiquarian books, he is a member of the American Antiquarian Society, The Grolier Club, and the Walpole Society.

Robert Berkley Jr., President & CEO, Berkley

Rob Berkley is President and Chief Executive Officer of W. R. Berkley Corporation.  He joined WRBC in 1997 and served as President and Chief Operating Officer from 2009 to 2015; Executive Vice President from 2005 to 2009; and Vice President for strategy and acquisitions from 2000 to 2002.  He was Executive Vice President of Berkley International from 2000 to 2001 and President from 2001 to 2002.  From 2002 to 2005, he was Senior Vice President of Specialty Operations, and was responsible as well for international operations.

Prior to joining Berkley, he was an investment banker with Merrill Lynch and Company.

Rob is a director of W. R. Berkley Corporation and the W. R. Berkley Corporation Charitable Foundation. 

He graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in Finance, and serves on the Georgetown University Board of Trustees and the Board of Advisors of the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown.  He also serves as Chair on the board of Brunswick School, St. John’s University School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science; Chairman of the Greenwich Hospital Board of Trustees; American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) and The Institutes Board of Trustees and is a Trustee of Yale New Haven Health Systems and member of the Yale New Haven Health Systems Investment Committee.

Rob Bredahl, President, Tiger Risk

Prior to joining TigerRisk, Rob Bredahl was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Third Point Reinsurance Ltd. and a member of the company’s Board of Directors.  During his tenure at Third Point Re between 2012 and 2019, he served in various senior roles including Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer.  Prior to joining Third Point Re, Rob was the Chief Executive Officer of Aon Benfield Securities, Aon’s Investment Banking Group, and the President of the Americas division of Aon Benfield from November 2008 to January 2012.  Prior to Aon’s acquisition of Benfield in November 2008, he held various senior level positions at Benfield and at the time of acquisition was Chief Executive Officer of Benfield U.S. Inc. and of Benfield Advisory.  Prior to joining Benfield in March 2002, Rob served as Chief Executive Officer of Inreon PLC and Managing Director and Head of U.S. Derivative Sales for Barclays Capital.

Rob earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Middlebury College.  While at Aon Benfield Securities he held several securities licenses, including the Series 24, Series 7 and Series 63.

Trevor Carvey, CEO, Conduit Re

Trevor has a track record of profitable build outs in the reinsurance industry. In 2002 he was recruited as a founding underwriter and leader at Arch Re Bermuda before which he led the consolidation and subsequent profitable turnaround of the GE Frankona Marine & Energy Global portfolio.

In 2007 Trevor joined Harbor Point Re in the UK to lead the build out of the reinsurance operation over a 5-year period. Subsequently he held the role of CUO Europe in the Alterra Re business which resulted from the merger of Max Re with Harbor Point in 2012. Trevor was part of the team responsible for the successful integration of the Alterra Global Re unit into Markel delivering an established and profitable business to the enlarged group.

Trevor was approached by Hamilton in 2015, to assist in building out a new treaty strategy in the UK and subsequently took on the role for leading the Lloyd’s approval of the syndicate business plan as active underwriter for the three years from 2016 to 2018.
